Bill Walker

For more than four decades, Bill Walker has served in senior leadership positions in communications and marketing with major public and private universities and colleges, including Dartmouth College, Rutgers University, the University of Arizona, the University of Missouri, Brandeis University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the College of William and Mary in Virginia.

Walker most recently led university-wide marketing, branding and communications programs at Brandeis University for eight months as Interim Senior Vice President for Communications, Marketing and External Relations. He previously served for 13 months during a presidential transition as Interim Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications at the University of Arizona, overseeing the departments of Marketing and Brand Management and University Communications.

Walker earlier spent six years as Vice President for Strategic Communications and External Relations at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and six as Vice President for Public Affairs at Dartmouth College. He later worked for two years during a presidential transition as Interim Vice President for Advancement Resources at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in Washington, DC, where he oversaw communications programming for an association representing some 70,000 advancement professionals at more than 3,500 member institutions worldwide.

In addition to earlier roles in leading strategic communications and marketing programs for Rutgers, William and Mary and Skidmore College, he also has served as a communications and marketing consultant for the State University of New York, the University of Massachusetts, the University of Missouri, North Carolina State University, the Naval Postgraduate School and CASE.

Walker has served on the Board of Trustees of CASE, as Chair of CASE’s international Commission on Communications and Marketing and as Chair of the CASE Summer Institute in Communications and Marketing. In July 2018, he received the Frank L. Ashmore Award for Distinguished Service to CASE and the Advancement Profession. He also held leadership positions with the Association of American Universities Public Affairs Network.

Walker is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
